BEFORE YOU STORE
A bit of prep keeps your items safe and makes retrieval easier later.
- Inventory everything — keep a written or photo list of what's going into storage. You'll thank yourself months down the line.
- Clean before you store — dust, food residue, and moisture attract pests and mildew. Wipe down furniture, vacuum upholstery, and make sure nothing goes in damp.
- Pack for the long haul — use sturdy boxes, not plastic bags. Bags trap moisture and tear under weight.
- Disassemble large furniture — beds, tables, and shelving units take up less space and travel safer when broken down. Bag the hardware and tape it to the piece.
- Label every box clearly — contents and room of origin. Future you needs to find things without unpacking the whole unit.
- Skip the prohibited items — no perishables, flammables, paint, propane, or live plants. Anything that can rot, leak, or combust stays out.
FOR BUSINESSES
Commercial storage works best when it's planned, not improvised.
- Assign a point of contact — one person who knows the inventory, has access, and can authorize retrievals.
- Label by category and date — archives, seasonal stock, retired equipment. The more granular, the faster the retrieval.
- Maintain a digital inventory — spreadsheet, database, whatever your team uses. Track what's stored, where it is in the unit, and when it was placed.
- Pallet and shelf where you can — items off the floor last longer and use vertical space efficiently. Our 10 ft clearance is there to be used.
- Schedule periodic check-ins — review what's still needed every 6 to 12 months. Storage you pay for indefinitely without reviewing is wasted money.
SAVE MONEY ON YOUR STORAGE
- Right-size your unit — paying for square footage you don't use adds up fast. We'll help you choose the right size based on a walkthrough or photo inventory.
- Commit longer to save more — month-to-month is flexible, but longer terms come with better rates. Ask about our pricing tiers.
- Declutter before you store — donate, sell, or dispose of anything you won't realistically use again. Storing it costs more than replacing most items.
- Pack efficiently — stackable boxes, similar sizes, vertical loading. Wasted space = wasted dollars.
- Bundle with your move — if you're already using us, combining moving and storage saves on both transport and handling.
